Nafplio is the first capital of Greece and is considered as “The Capital of Romance” in Greece. There are so many things that can bring you closer to him and help you create unforgettable memories from a Romantic Gateway! It is called also “The Venice of Greece”.

The Old City

Let’s start with the Old City of Nafplio. The Old city is full of Romantic pedestrian paths with small retail stores and romantic restaurants of all different type of cuisines. All the buildings at the old city of Nafplio have different colors, small balconies and different types of flowers climbing at the walls, all of them giving the sense of an exotic place. This is because there is a low in Greece that does not allow the Landlords to make significant changes at their buildings so all of them still have the architectural and colors of the ancient Greece.

The main street that crosses the old city of Nafplio and is accessible by car is the “Vasilisis Amalias Street”. It starts from the Kapodistrias Statue and goes all the way to the main meet point in the port of Nafplio that is called “The P”. As you drive at the Vasilis Amalias St towards the West all the area at you left hand is the most well-known area of the old city of Nafplio. At your right and between where you are till the port is another area with walking paths all of them leading to the main port of the city.

Two of the most well-known pedestrian paths in the old city of Nafplio are the streets “Vasileos Konstantinou St” and “Staikopoulou St”. They are parallel to each other and parallel to the coastline at the port. At these two streets you will find small retail stores if you wish to buy souvenirs or small gifts to each other and a lot of different type of cuisine restaurants as well.

Another romantic route that we use to take our partners is the route from the “P” of the port till the very end where the lighthouse is located. It is a nice walking route where at your right hand you can enjoy the amazing view at the Bourtzi Castle while at you left hand are different coffee shops- bars.

Acronafplia Castle

If you watch Nafplio from distance you will see that there are two main Hills in the city. The one at the East is the Palamidi Hill while the other one at the West is the Acronafplia one, meaning the edge of Nafplio. This is one of the most romantic places that you will find in the city. You can go there either driving from downtown or walking from different places across the old city of Nafplio.

The most Romantic place in the Acronafplia is the clock. It is located at the very top and from there you will have an amazing view at the city and the suburbs and the Romantic Palamidi Castle as well.

The best time to visit Acronafplia is either early in the morning where it will be very quiet and the only sound that you will hear is the birds singing or during the evening to enjoy the romantic sunset. The main advantage that you have from Acronafplia is that you can enjoy the view both at the North where the main city is located and at the South.

There are different places that you can stop while walking to the top in order to enjoy the amazing view and take some of the best photos you ever had! Natural Balconies, Castle Walls, Natural Windows, Paved Path, Natural Tunnels.

The famous round of Arvanitia

The Famous Round of Arvanitia is the place that almost every new couple goes for their wedding photos. It is a small path parallel to the sea with amazing view and a lot of places with staircases that allow you to go closer to the sea surface.

It is one the most popular paths of Nafplio as it goes all the way round underneath the Acronafplia Hill. As you walk you have the hill all the way to end at the one hand while at the other you have the Argolic Gulf.

The most well-known places for amazing photos are the cave and the lighthouse.

In the beginning of the path you will meet the “Banieres”, The “Yacht Club” with the natural swimming pool.

At the very end of the Hill is the “Panagitsa Lighthouse” from where you can enjoy the amazing view to both Palamidi Castle and the Bourtzi Fortresses.

Romantic Restaurants & Bars

There is nothing more valuable when you are with your beloved one than a nice place where you can spend some romantic time together enjoying a nice cocktail or a good dinner next to the sea. In the surrounding Nafplio area there a few options that can give you the ability to come closer together.

The first place in the city of Nafplio where you can enjoy a romantic dinner or cocktail next to the sea is at the only beach located in the city of Nafplio, the Arvanitia beach. There is only one place there, the Blue Blank that is an all-day café-restaurant-bar. It has tables and booths right next to the sea so the only one who will bother you is the moon or the waves!

The second place where you can mainly enjoy drinks together is all the area right in front of the Bourtzi Castle. There are different coffee-bars with seats with view right in the romantic Bourtzi castle.

Another amazing option for a romantic drink with the company of the moon is the “Red Rock Bar” at Tolo. It is a place with balconies at different levels right on top of the sea that provides you with the privacy needed. Its name comes from the rock that you will see right in front of you that in the night is lighted with red colour!

In addition there are several options for restaurants located at the paths in the old city of Nafplio, where you can enjoy lunch or dinner with the view at the Venetian architecture buildings.

The five brothers – Port lighthouse

All the locals have specific places that they will take their beloved one especially at the first dates the relationship is “at the honey”. A popular place that you can spend some romantic time together is at the very end at the port. The first place is The Five Brothers underneath from Acronafplia. Its name comes from five cannons that are exactly the same as brothers. You can sit next to the cannons and enjoy the amazing view at the Bourtzi Castle and the Argolic Gulf. Especially the nights with moon, you will enjoy the amazing reflection of the moon at the surface of the sea that is ideal for the sweetest words that he ever told you.

If you take the staircases to the North you can walk till the very end, where the lighthouse is. Just behind the lighthouse there are natural seats on the rocks or at the base of the lighthouse where you can private sit together and only thing that will bother you is the relaxing sound from the sea waves and the light from the lighthouse that, as it flashes, will create a very romantic atmosphere for the two of you.

Romantic Walk at the old train station – Walk at the park

Another place that deserves your attention as a couple is the old train station. It is located right behind the Kolokotronis Park, 3min walk from Vida Residential Apartments. Kolokotronis park is the biggest park in the city that gives you the option to walk in the nature right in downtown Nafplio. There are small paths and benches from where you can enjoy the amazing view at the Palamidi Castle. Right behind the Kolokotronis Park is located the old train station.
